Cricket politics heats up Asia Cup

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly suggested a “hybrid model” for the Asia Cup to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that is set to take place in September this year. According to sources, the PCB has suggested that India’s matches be scheduled offshore for the 50-over competition that will be hosted in Pakistan.

The PCB has also reiterated its earlier stance that it will withdraw from the tournament if its suggestion is not acceptable to the ACC, or if any decision to relocate the tournament is made. The PCB has proposed the hybrid model to safeguard the interests of the competition and participating countries.

The ACC will review the proposal and revert with comments, according to a source cited by The Republic Policy News.
