Alex de Minaur of Australia triumphed over Tommy Paul of the United States in a thrilling three-setter on Saturday to capture the Mexican Open title in Acapulco.

The 24-year-old bounced back after conceding the first set to secure his seventh professional title with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph. De Minaur bagged his seventh career title and his first in an ATP 500 event with his triumph.

In a similar vein to his semi-final against Holger Rune on Friday, de Minaur put up a relentless fightback, which was epitomized by the opening game of the final set, where he saved five break points to hold before securing the match in 2hr 27min.

“I feel amazing, it feels great,” De Minaur said in an on-court interview after his win. “I know the hard work that’s gone into being here, and it’s satisfying to see the results.”
