Grants and allows: Imran Khan allowed to meet doctor and wife during remand

The accountability court in Islamabad has allowed former Prime Minister Imran Khan to meet with his personal physician, Dr. Faisal, and talk to his wife during his eight-day physical remand in the Al-Qadir Trust case, as per a written judgment issued on Thursday.

The case against Imran Khan revolves around allegations of illegal use of funds by the Al-Qadir Trust, of which he was a trustee. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested him on May 9 after he appeared before the court in the case.

During the court proceedings, Khan’s lawyers had requested permission for him to meet with his personal physician, citing his pre-existing medical conditions. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court allowed Dr. Faisal from Shaukat Khanum Hospital to be part of the medical examination team.

In addition, the accountability court granted permission for Khan’s lawyers to meet with him during the remand period.
