According to the United Nations, the Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for 86 per cent of the besieged Gaza Strip, resulting in the displacement of thousands of Palestinians. On Monday, 33 more Palestinians were killed in the ongoing attacks and displacement, further exacerbating the escalating crisis. These attacks are not just numbers, they are lives and families torn apart.
Despite the new evacuation orders, Palestinians residing in the Bureij and Nuseirat refugee camps in central Gaza are showing remarkable resilience. Mohammed Nasrallah, a displaced Palestinian, expressed the turmoil experienced by many, stating, “Our life is in pieces. We have nothing, no one but God.” This resilience in the face of adversity is truly inspiring.
Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA, confirmed that the majority of the besieged enclave is now under evacuation orders issued by the Israeli military. The recurrent mass displacements have become distressingly routine for the displaced population.
Displaced individuals, including vulnerable groups such as blind Palestinians, are facing dire circumstances and a lack of safe shelters. Additionally, schools turned into shelters for the displaced have been targeted, further jeopardizing the safety of civilians.
The Israeli army’s bombardment of al-Mawasi, a previously declared “safe zone,” resulted in the death of at least three people and left others wounded. The overall death toll in the region continues to rise, with more than 33 Palestinians reported killed on Monday and a staggering total of 39,363 deaths since October, along with over 90,000 others wounded.

The health crisis in Gaza has reached a critical point, leading Gaza’s Ministry of Health to declare it a “polio-endemic area.” The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed the spread of the polio virus, putting Gaza’s densely populated area at immediate risk of contamination due to scarce drinking water supplies. Urgent action is needed to prevent further outbreaks.
The situation in Gaza is dire, as Palestinians endure makeshift living conditions without proper hygiene and sanitary facilities. The WHO has pledged to send over one million polio vaccines to Gaza to prevent further outbreaks, while Israel’s military plans to administer the vaccine to soldiers in Gaza.
Amid these challenges, efforts to reach a ceasefire and hostage release deal in the Gaza Strip have been hindered by conflicting reports and accusations between Israel and Hamas. The lack of progress in reaching a truce proposal further exacerbates the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
