The Israeli military has intensified its offensive on three major hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip, prompting urgent pleas for international intervention from doctors and local authorities.
This week, the Kamal Adwan Hospital and the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya, along with the al-Awda Hospital near the Jabalia refugee camp, have faced renewed assaults.
In a concerning incident early Tuesday, two unmanned robotic vehicles packed with explosives detonated near Kamal Adwan Hospital, injuring around 20 patients and medical staff, according to hospital director Hussam Abu Safia. This marks the first instance where Israeli forces deployed explosives in the area, although similar tactics had previously been utilized for demolishing buildings in northern Gaza.
Reports from Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud in Deir el-Balah indicate that the area surrounding the hospital has been significantly cleared of buildings, and the infrastructure has deteriorated, severely restricting access to the hospital. The facility has faced consistent bombardment, which has rendered several departments, including the intensive care unit, non-functional.
