Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque and the regulator complained over the increased taxes rates imposed on the telecom sector on Wednesday.

The federal minister during the “Smart Phone for All” launch ceremony, which was hosted in conjunction with GSMA and KistPay stated that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) need to comprehend the problems being encountered by the IT and telecom sector.

In his statement he said, “Improved access to smartphones is a key priority so that everyone in Pakistan can participate in the #digitaleconomy & socio-economic benefit from increased smartphone penetration can be achieved.”
