A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed by the federal government has summoned 15 prominent leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party over accusations of spreading anti-state propaganda through social media platforms.
Among those summoned are notable PTI figures including Gohar Ali Khan, Hammad Azhar, Salman Akram Raja, Raoof Hasan, Asad Qaiser, Aun Abbas, and Waqas Akram. Other leaders on the list include Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Khalid Khurshid Khan, Aliya Hamza, Kanwal Shauzab, Taimoor Saleem Khan, Shah Farman, Shehbaz Shabbir, and Mian Muhammad Aslam. The PTI leaders are required to appear before the JIT today at 12 pm.
The investigation, led by Islamabad Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, focuses on allegations of spreading anti-state propaganda through digital platforms.
In addition to the PTI leaders, the JIT had earlier issued summons to 10 members of PTI’s social media team, including Asif Rasheed, Muhammad Arshad, Sibghatullah Warq, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Nauman Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, Syed Salman Raza Zaidi, Zulfi Bukhari, Moosa Warq, and Ali Husnain Malik.
The ongoing investigation is aimed at scrutinizing the involvement of PTI leaders and their social media team in allegedly promoting online propaganda against the state.
