KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) took flight operations at Gwadar International Airport to new heights on Sunday by introducing nighttime landings.

In a groundbreaking move, the CAA notified airlines and aviation companies that overnight parking at Gwadar airport will be strictly prohibited.

“Only military aircraft and those affiliated with the Balochistan government will have clearance for night parking at Gwadar International Airport,” stated the directive.

Situated in Gurandani, just 26km east of Gwadar city, the country’s largest airport, New Gwadar International Airport, has become Balochistan’s first facility to facilitate night landings.

With open arms, the airport welcomes both domestic and international flights to the bustling port city.

Financed through a generous grant from the Chinese government as part of the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, the project’s total estimated cost amounts to $230 million.
