Nationwide Christmas Celebrations Highlight Unity and Spirit of the Christian Community

Christmas was celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm and heartfelt devotion, reflecting the vibrant culture of the Christian community. Prayer services took place in various cities, uniting worshippers in sincere prayers for the country’s peace, security, and progress.

In Karachi, a central celebration at St Patrick’s Church drew a large crowd of believers, supported by extensive security measures at churches throughout the city to ensure a safe and joyful experience. Lahore marked the occasion with a grand 100-pound cake cut at St Luke’s Church in Shahdara, and similar festive events were held in Bahawalpur, Quetta, Multan, Sargodha, and Lodhran, where churches organized prayer gatherings under tight security.

In Multan, 1,300 police personnel were deployed to ensure the safety of worshippers as the community celebrated with enthusiasm. Lodhran implemented a comprehensive security plan, featuring walk-through gates and CCTV cameras at churches.

On this special day, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized that the Constitution guarantees the fundamental rights of all citizens, regardless of their faith, underscoring the importance of upholding these rights to foster national unity and progress.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings to all celebrating Christmas, both in the country and around the globe. He highlighted the profound teachings of Prophet Isa (AS), advocating for compassion, love, and mercy, and encouraged everyone to reflect on these enduring values. The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the rights of all religious communities, pledging to create an environment of mutual respect and understanding. He expressed hopes that the Christmas season would bring joy and blessings to every household and that the coming year would be filled with hope, peace, and success for Pakistan.

Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir also attended Christmas celebrations at St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral Church in Rawalpindi, extending his heartfelt greetings to the Christian community and recognizing their significant contributions to the nation’s development.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur acknowledged the vital role of minorities, particularly the Christian community, in national development, reiterating their equal rights as enshrined in the Constitution.

The celebrations showcased the unity and contributions of the Christian community, joining millions worldwide in commemorating this special day with devotion and joy.
