Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir said Saturday that the friendship between Pakistan and China was “unique, time-tested and has remained steadfast in the face of evolving regional and global challenges.”
He made the remarks while addressing a ceremony at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the founding of China’s People’s Liberation Army, according to Inter-Services Public Relations. China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, attended as guest of honour, alongside China’s Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, Chinese embassy officials, and senior military officers from Pakistan’s tri-services.
ISPR said Field Marshal Munir welcomed the guests and congratulated the PLA on its founding anniversary, paying tribute to what he described as its remarkable contributions to China’s defence, national development, and international peace and security. Highlighting the depth of Pakistan-China relations, he reaffirmed that the two militaries are true partners, bound by mutual trust, unwavering support, and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and the protection of common strategic interests.
‘True Partners’
The Chinese ambassador thanked the field marshal for hosting the event, acknowledging the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces in the fight against terrorism and reaffirming China’s continued support for Pakistan, along with its commitment to strengthening the two countries’ all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
At last year’s commemoration ceremony at GHQ, Munir had similarly described the enduring partnership between Pakistan and China as one that would continue to play a pivotal role in regional stability.
Pakistan and China share a longstanding strategic partnership rooted in mutual trust, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity, with bilateral ties expanding over the decades across trade, energy, defence, and infrastructure, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor standing as a central symbol of the two countries’ shared vision for development.
