The federal government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices, with the revised rates remaining effective until Thursday, September 17, 2026.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol has been raised by Rs6.88 per litre to Rs391.22, while high-speed diesel has become Rs5.62 per litre more expensive, reaching Rs421.45.
OGRA attributed the increase mainly to higher petrol and diesel prices in the international market amid persistent global uncertainty. The regulator said changes in Platts rates, premiums and other relevant factors were also taken into account while revising domestic petroleum prices.
The latest increase is expected to add further pressure on consumers and businesses already facing the impact of elevated international crude oil and petroleum product prices.
In the previous price review, the government had increased petrol to Rs384.34 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel was raised to Rs415.83 per litre.
Meanwhile, international oil prices declined on Wednesday after reports that Saudi Arabia was making additional crude cargoes available through Oman, easing some concerns over supply disruptions in the Middle East. A smaller-than-expected decline in U.S. crude inventories also weighed on prices.
Brent crude futures dropped $3.63, or 3.3%, to $105.12 per barrel by 11:23 a.m. EDT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude fell $4.11, or 3.9%, to $101.72 per barrel.
Saudi Arabia is reportedly offering additional crude supplies to Asian refiners through ship-to-ship transfers near Oman’s Sohar port. The move is intended to mitigate some of the supply disruption caused by attacks on the kingdom’s East-West pipeline leading to the Red Sea.
