Amidst the ongoing turmoil in Sudan, President Joe Biden has announced the temporary closure of the American embassy in Sudan. However, he also reassured that the United States will remain committed to supporting the Sudanese people.

As the country continues to grapple with the struggle for power, the temporary ceasefire between Army Chief Abdel Fattah-Al-Burhan and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) chief Mohamed Hamdan Daglo came to an end on the second day of Eid.

The conflict in Sudan has resulted in the loss of 413 lives, with thousands more injured and many others left without basic necessities such as electricity, water, and communication.

In response to the situation, President Biden declared that the violence must come to an end, calling it “unconscionable”. He tweeted, “This tragic violence in Sudan has already cost the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians. It’s unacceptable and it must stop. While we are temporarily suspending operations at the US Embassy in Sudan, our support for the Sudanese people and their future remains unwavering.”
