Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has downplayed the significance of the recent pardon granted to 19 individuals convicted by military courts, calling it a minor development. Speaking to the media upon his arrival at Parliament House, Khan explained that 67 individuals had filed appeals, but only 19 had been granted pardons, with the others still pending.
Khan reiterated his party’s strong stance against the trial of civilians in military courts, emphasizing that the Supreme Court had already ruled that civilians should not be tried in such courts.

In parallel, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, reiterated the PTI’s demands for political dialogue. He called for the release of political prisoners and the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incidents of November 26 and May 9. Ayub stressed the need for political negotiations, highlighting that the government is currently a “Form 47” one, and talks should proceed under the doctrine of necessity.
Meanwhile, PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry reaffirmed Imran Khan’s stance, stating that the PTI founder had rejected an offer to move to his Islamabad residence, Banigala, and would remain firm in his position until political prisoners were released without trial. Chaudhry also criticized the ongoing legal cases against Imran Khan, calling them politically motivated.
Chaudhry added that the PTI negotiating committee was pushing for a judicial commission and the release of prisoners, while alleging that certain elements within the government were attempting to derail the talks. He also dismissed the Toshakhana-II case as one of many false charges against PTI leaders.
