The US Mission in Pakistan stated on Thursday that interview waiver eligibility has been expanded for Pakistani residents renewing B1/B2 tourist and business visas at the American embassy in Islamabad and the US Consulate General in Karachi.
“All Pakistani residents, regardless of age, whose B1/B2 visas are active or have expired within the previous 48 months are eligible to participate,” according to a statement published by the US Embassy and consulates.
Previously, only Pakistani citizens aged 45 and up were able to apply. Furthermore, interview waiver eligibility for student and petition-based employment visa candidates who have previously held a US visa has been extended until 2023.
According to the statement, the increase of interview waiver eligibility is a procedural adjustment designed to provide better customer service and more rapidly process renewals of tourist and business visas for qualified and eligible Pakistani individuals. Some qualified visa holders may be asked to attend for interviews at the US Embassy or Consulate General after submitting their applications, as required by US law.
