The cost of wheat has risen sharply in recent days, prompting flour mill owners to raise the price of a 20kg bag of flour by Rs150 to Rs200, according to Haji Yousuf, President of the Lahore Atta Dealers Association. Additionally, the price of a 10kg bag of flour has increased by Rs70, while the cost of an 80kg bag of fine flour has surged by Rs500.
As a result, the price of a 20kg bag of flour has soared to Rs1,750 from Rs1,550-1,600. Similarly, the price of a 10kg bag of flour has jumped from Rs800 to Rs870, and the cost of an 80kg bag of fine flour has spiked from Rs7,500 to Rs8,000. A flour dealer explained that the price of one maund of wheat has risen from Rs2,500-Rs2,600 to Rs3,100 in the open market, prompting the mills to hike flour prices.
