A terrorist attack at Bannu Cantonment on Monday resulted in the deaths of eight members of the security forces, while a retaliatory operation led to the killing of 10 terrorists, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Early on Monday, 10 terrorists attempted to enter Bannu Cantonment, but they were confronted by security forces, forcing them to ram an explosive-laden vehicle into the cantonment’s perimeter wall. This suicide blast caused the collapse of a section of the wall and resulted in the martyrdom of eight security forces personnel.
The martyrs were identified as Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Havildar Zil-e-Hussain, Havildar Shahzad Ahmed, Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain Khan, Sepoy Sobhan Majeed, Sepoy Imtiaz Khan, Sepoy Arsalan Aslam from the Pakistan Army, and Lance Naik Sabz Ali from the Frontier Constabulary.
In the subsequent operation, the security forces effectively engaged the terrorists, resulting in the death of all 10 attackers. The ISPR praised the timely and effective response of the security forces, which prevented a major catastrophe and saved innocent lives, emphasizing the relentless resolve in the fight against terrorism.

The ISPR attributed the “heinous act of terrorism” to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, which operates from Afghanistan and has a history of orchestrating terrorism inside Pakistan from Afghan soil.
The Pakistan Armed Forces remain committed to defending the country against terrorism and will take all necessary measures against threats emanating from Afghanistan.
The president and the prime minister condemned the terrorist attack, paying tribute to the martyrs and expressing solidarity with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
