PSL 10 begins at Rawalpindi

Islamabad United began their title defense in style, cruising to an eight-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Chasing a target of 140, United made light work of the chase, wrapping up the match with 14 balls remaining and only two wickets down. After the early loss of debutant opener Andries Gous for 8, Colin Munro and Salman Ali Agha took control with a brilliant unbeaten partnership of 80 runs.

Munro played a classy knock, scoring 59 off 42 balls with seven boundaries and a six, while Agha supported with a steady 41 off 34, hitting three fours and a six. For Lahore, Haris Rauf and Abbas Afridi managed to pick up a wicket each.

Lahore Qalandars, sent in to bat first, struggled from the start and were bowled out for 139 in 19.2 overs. Abdullah Shafique was the lone warrior with an impressive 66 off 38 balls, including six fours and three sixes. However, he got little help from the rest of the batting lineup, with only Sikandar Raza (23) and Daryl Mitchell (13) making double figures.

Islamabad’s bowlers were on point, with Jason Holder stealing the show with 4 wickets for 26 runs. Captain Shadab Khan also made a big impact, claiming 3 for 25 in his four overs, effectively breaking the backbone of Lahore’s batting.

With this convincing win, Islamabad United top the PSL 10 table with two points, while Lahore Qalandars start their campaign at the bottom.
