Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his government’s firm commitment to eliminating terrorism from Pakistan, declaring that extremist forces will face such a decisive defeat they won’t dare threaten the nation again.

Speaking during a high-level meeting on law and order held in Islamabad, the Prime Minister stressed the need for collective national resolve. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), he said, “The enemies of Pakistan fear our growing economic strength, and we won’t let them sabotage our progress.”

PM Shehbaz emphasized that the federal government will continue to fully support all provinces in strengthening their counterterrorism capabilities. He also urged political and institutional stakeholders to put aside their differences and join forces to ensure the country’s stability and public safety.

His remarks come at a critical time, as Pakistan faces a renewed wave of militant activity. Just a day earlier, security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Maddi area of Dera Ismail Khan, according to the military’s media wing, ISPR. The statement praised the bravery of Pakistan’s soldiers and reaffirmed the military’s determination to eliminate terrorism from the country.

During the meeting, officials briefed the Prime Minister on the establishment of National and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centers—key hubs for coordinating efforts between security and intelligence agencies.

In addition to the focus on counterterrorism, PM Shehbaz issued directives to crack down harder on smuggling and human trafficking networks. He stressed the need to tighten the net around these illegal operations and called for coordinated institutional action.

The meeting reflected the government’s intensified efforts to respond to rising security challenges, while also reinforcing a message of national unity, resilience, and zero tolerance for terror or organized crime.
