In a bold statement, senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Senator Faisal Javed announced that nationwide protests are the only way forward to secure the release of former Prime Minister and PTI founder, Imran Khan.
Javed said that PTI is actively mobilizing its supporters across Pakistan and gearing up for large-scale demonstrations. “We are preparing to take to the streets. That is the only path left for us to ensure Imran Khan’s release,” he stated, adding that the party’s workers are highly motivated and political gatherings are already taking place.
He emphasized that the time has come to set a date for a countrywide protest and suggested that such action is imminent. Javed also pointed fingers at every level of the current system for Imran Khan’s ongoing detention. “The entire system is responsible, from top to bottom,” he asserted.
The senator defended the right to protest as a constitutional guarantee, warning that if peaceful demonstrations are not allowed, then such rights should be removed from the Constitution altogether.
While Javed expressed openness to dialogue, he made it clear that protest remains a legitimate and necessary form of political expression. “Politics is about both negotiation and protest,” he said, adding that PTI’s senior leadership will soon finalize their protest strategy.
Recalling previous government crackdowns on PTI rallies, Javed warned that the people are ready to take to the streets once again. He called on other democratic political parties to join PTI’s movement and stand up for the protection of civil liberties and democratic rights.
