Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), underscored the importance of joint civil-military efforts in tackling the hardships faced by flood-affected communities, the military’s media wing reported.

During his visit to the Kasur Sector and the Flood Relief Camp at Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan, he reviewed the prevailing flood situation and inspected ongoing relief operations. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief reiterated the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to initiatives aimed at public welfare.

In discussions with the civil administration, COAS Munir highlighted the need for good governance and inclusive, people-centered development. He was also briefed in detail on the ground situation, including the progress of rescue and relief operations.

Emphasizing urgency, the army chief directed that all essential measures, including infrastructural improvements to shield communities from recurring flood devastation, be expedited. “The state cannot afford the loss of precious lives and property every year,” he remarked, as quoted by ISPR.

Meeting with flood affectees evacuated by the Army and civil authorities, Munir assured them of sustained support in resettlement and rehabilitation. The affected families expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Pakistan Army’s timely assistance during their moment of crisis.

The COAS also interacted with troops, Rescue 1122 personnel, and police officers engaged in relief operations. He praised their dedication, high morale, and operational readiness, commending their tireless round-the-clock efforts in close coordination with civil administration to deliver timely relief.

Additionally, he conducted an aerial reconnaissance of the flood-hit areas along the Lahore–Kasur and Multan–Jalalpur Pirwala axes to assess the scale of destruction and monitor the progress of relief activities.
