ATC Extends PTI Leaders’ Bail, Issues Warrants in Riot Trials

[post-views]

An anti-terrorism court on Friday began proceedings against fashion designer Khadija Shah and several other accused for repeatedly failing to appear in trials linked to the May 9 riots.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill issued arrest warrants for eight individuals in two separate cases — the Jinnah House and Askari Tower attacks. Shah and the other accused have not attended hearings in these trials following their earlier convictions in related cases.

In the Jinnah House attack case, arrest warrants were issued for Imran and Faiza Azmat, while in the Askari Tower case, warrants were issued for Usman, Ahmed Mursaleen, Hamza Sohail, and Muhammad Khalid. The court also initiated proceedings to declare Abdul Razzaq and Safdar proclaimed offenders in the Jinnah House case.

Separately, another ATC extended the interim pre-arrest bail of PTI leaders Asad Umar and Azam Swati, as well as Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, in different May 9 cases. Umar and Swati appeared before the court, while Aleema and Uzma were absent due to being in Islamabad.
