Iran Says US and Israel Seeking to Break the Country Apart

[post-views]

TEHRAN: Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani has accused the United States and Israel of trying to weaken and divide Iran, warning that the strategy could lead to prolonged instability in the region.

In a pre-recorded interview broadcast on Iranian state television, Larijani said the ultimate objective of Washington and Tel Aviv was the “fundamental disintegration” of the Islamic Republic. He argued that their actions were aimed not only at military pressure but also at creating conditions that could fragment the country internally.

Larijani claimed that the United States had misjudged the situation in Iran by assuming that political and military pressure would quickly bring about a change in the country’s leadership. According to him, American policymakers believed Iran could follow a scenario similar to Venezuela, where political turmoil and foreign pressure weakened the government.

However, he said the reality in Iran was very different. Larijani stressed that Washington does not fully understand the political and social dynamics of West Asia, particularly Iran’s internal cohesion and regional context.

“They thought they could strike, take control and end the issue quickly,” he said, adding that such expectations have instead drawn the United States deeper into a complex regional crisis.

His remarks come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following a series of military confrontations involving Iran, the United States and Israel, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
