ISLAMABAD: SOT Events inaugurated its 20th edition, titled Possible Worlds, in Islamabad on Saturday, bringing together prominent thinkers, experts, and professionals from various disciplines to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping humanity’s future.
The event focused on the idea that the future is not predetermined but emerges from the choices, policies, and actions undertaken in the present. Through a series of thought-provoking discussions, participants explored different possibilities for societies navigating rapid technological, environmental, political, and cultural transformations.
Islamabad hosted the opening event of the three-city initiative, which will subsequently travel to Lahore and Karachi. The programme featured eight sessions addressing a broad spectrum of contemporary issues, including the changing nature of education and employment, climate resilience, digital security, artificial intelligence, evolving perceptions of beauty, international politics, armed conflicts, and the role of arts in society.
Despite unfavourable weather conditions, the gathering attracted substantial participation from residents of Islamabad and neighbouring areas, reflecting public interest in meaningful dialogue on emerging global and national challenges.
Organised by the Beaconhouse Group, SOT Events has established itself over more than two decades as a prominent forum for intellectual engagement and public debate in Pakistan. The platform encourages open discussions, diverse perspectives, and critical examination of issues affecting society.
Following its Islamabad programme, Possible Worlds will arrive in Lahore on November 28 and 29 at Faletti’s Hotel. The two-day event will offer discussions, debates, cultural performances, and interactive activities. The final gathering is scheduled for December 12 at the Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi.
Commenting on the initiative, Kasim Kasuri, Chair of SOT Events and Chief Executive Officer of Beaconhouse, emphasised the importance of maintaining spaces where individuals can openly exchange ideas, question established assumptions, and engage in constructive debate.
He explained that expanding Possible Worlds to three major cities would enable wider public participation in discussions concerning developments that will influence the collective future.
United Bank Limited (UBL) is serving as the lead sponsor of SOT Events 2026, supporting the programme throughout its Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi editions.
