China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi commended Pakistan’s “active diplomatic role” in promoting peace in the Middle East during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Beijing. The two countries launched a five-point initiative calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the swift resumption of peace talks. Dar briefed Wang on Pakistan’s recent quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and Egypt, aimed at de-escalation and dialogue.
