Pakistan’s Vehicle Sales Jump Over 50% in Current Fiscal Year

[post-views]

Pakistan’s automobile market recorded strong growth during the first ten months of the current fiscal year, with overall car sales rising by 52 percent compared to the same period last year, according to figures released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

A total of 127,042 cars were sold during the period, significantly higher than the 83,401 units sold a year earlier. The sharp increase reflects improving consumer demand and greater market activity despite ongoing economic challenges.

Sales of jeeps and pickup vehicles also showed strong momentum, climbing 39 percent to 39,002 units. Meanwhile, truck sales witnessed a major rise of 81 percent, reaching 5,890 units, while bus sales increased by 28 percent to 797 units.

The two-wheeler sector also performed strongly, with motorbike and rickshaw sales growing by 32 percent to more than 1.6 million units.

However, the farm tractor sector continued to struggle. Tractor sales declined by 7 percent to 23,116 units during the period. Industry observers link the slowdown to lower agricultural output caused by climate change, water shortages and the increasing conversion of farmland into housing schemes, which has negatively affected farmers’ purchasing power and confidence.
