General Michael E. Kurilla, the commander of US Central Command, expressed his satisfaction with Pakistan’s nuclear security procedures during his testimony before the US Senate Armed Services Committee. In response to a question from a Senator about the security of Pakistan’s nuclear program in the face of political instability and economic crisis, General Kurilla stated that he was confident in their procedures and that the US is satisfied with Pakistan’s nuclear program.
General Kurilla also noted his good relationship with the Chief of the Army Staff, General Munir, and discussed some of the challenges currently facing Pakistan, including budget and financial issues, political instability, and counter-terrorism efforts. He also mentioned the recent increase in attacks by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
