PTI kicks off election marathon

In spite of the uncertainty surrounding the elections, Asad Umar, the Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), declared on Sunday that the political party led by Imran Khan would initiate its campaign for the Punjab elections starting the following day.

“PTI will kickstart its election drive from tomorrow. Even though they (PDM) may not be prepared, we are,” Umar announced via Twitter.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan personally interviewed all 297 party candidates to ensure the selection process was based on merit, according to reports earlier this week. Khan, who was removed from his position as prime minister in April 2020, conducted the interviews from April 6 to April 18 to handpick the party’s nominees for the upcoming elections.

However, the distribution of tickets has reportedly caused discord within the party, with several prominent leaders feeling overlooked. The situation has raised questions about the PTI’s ability to maintain unity and coherence in its campaign for the elections.
