ISLAMABAD: The tense standoff between Pakistan and India witnessed a surprising twist as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) embraced Najam Sethi’s innovative blueprint for hosting the September Asia Cup, The News revealed on Thursday.

Najam Sethi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, introduced a groundbreaking hybrid model to the ACC. Under this plan, Pakistan will organize four to six matches of the Asia Cup concurrently with India playing its matches at a neutral venue that also accommodates other games.

A reliable source within the ACC, based in India, confirmed that the Asian body has wholeheartedly accepted Sethi’s hybrid model without imposing any additional requirements.

Crucially, no conditions were imposed regarding Pakistan’s participation in the October World Cup scheduled to be held in India, subject to the approval of the Pakistan government.
