US Senator Chris Van Hollen assured on Sunday that the Biden administration has no desire to meddle in Pakistan’s internal political affairs, vehemently refuting any allegations of political manipulation.
Addressing Pakistani journalists at the annual gathering and gala dinner of the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) chapter of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America, Senator Hollen emphasized his longstanding communication with the Biden administration. He categorically stated that there were no efforts made to engineer any aspect of Pakistani politics.
The senator’s declaration comes at a time when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is under investigation in connection with a diplomatic cipher he claimed contained proof of US involvement in his removal from power through a no-confidence vote last April.
Senator Hollen, honored as the guest of distinction at the event, shared the platform with Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Masood Khan. The gathering provided an opportunity for the American legislator to delve into crucial topics concerning US-Pakistan relations and the Biden administration’s role in Pakistani politics.
