In a recent development, Parvez Elahi, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been released from Kot Lakhpat jail after being granted bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC). The court order, issued by LHC Justice Sultan Tanvir Ahmed, allowed Elahi’s bail petition and ordered his release on a bail amount of Rs500,000 with two sureties each in the same amount. The decision was based on the need for further investigation into the allegations against Elahi.
Elahi’s lawyer, Amir Saeed Rawn, confirmed his release and stated that the PTI leader had expressed gratitude for being exonerated and for the support he received during his time in detention. Elahi also took to his official account to thank the judges who upheld the truth and expressed his appreciation for the prayers and support he received from the people.
Following his release, Elahi reiterated his commitment to the PTI and dismissed any possibility of reconciliation with his cousin, Chaudhry Shujaat, and his children until “the return of our mandate.” He alleged that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi played a significant role in his arrest and reaffirmed his unwavering support for Prime Minister Imran Khan.
PTI Senator Faisal Javed extended congratulations to Elahi on his release and commended his loyalty to the party. The PTI also praised Elahi’s steadfastness and commitment to the party’s cause.
This development comes after Elahi’s arrest in June last year in connection with alleged illegal recruitments in the Punjab Assembly and the controversial appointment of Muhammad Khan Bhatti as the principal secretary during his tenure as the chief minister. Elahi had faced a series of detentions and legal challenges since his initial arrest, and his release has been welcomed by his supporters and party members.
The case against Elahi revolves around accusations of illegal recruitment and alleged manipulation of testing service results to favour certain candidates, as well as the unauthorized appointment of Bhatti. Despite the legal ordeal, Elahi has remained resolute in his support for the PTI and his determination to stand by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The granting of bail to Parvez Elahi by the Lahore High Court marks a significant development in this high-profile case, and his release has been met with relief and appreciation from his supporters and party affiliates.
