LAHORE, September 26, 2026: Azan Ahmed will captain Pakistan’s Under-17 cricket team in a home series against Sri Lanka U17, scheduled to take place in Multan from October 9 to 24.
The bilateral series will feature one three-day match and five one-day fixtures, all at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The Sri Lankan squad is due to arrive on October 5, with both teams scheduled to train at the venue from October 6 to 8.
Azan Rewarded for Impressive Domestic Performance
The 17-year-old leg-spinner earned the captaincy after an impressive campaign for Rawalpindi U17 in this year’s National Men’s U17 Cup.
Azan claimed 36 wickets in eight matches during the two-day tournament, recording best innings figures of four for 28.
He also led Rawalpindi to the championship title. His team defeated Abbottabad by 125 runs in the final, played at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad from May 11 to 13.
Squad Selected Following Development Camps
Following the National Men’s U17 Cup, 48 promising cricketers were invited to a skills development camp that began in Faisalabad on July 30.
The selectors subsequently shortlisted 30 players for the camp’s second phase before finalising the squad for the Sri Lanka series.
All 16 selected players and four reserves participated in the National Men’s U17 Cup.
