Blasted Away: Extremists Attack Girls’ Schools in Waziristan

Terrorists blew up two girls’ schools in the Mir Ali sub-division of North Waziristan, adding to the growing violence against educational institutes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Deputy Commissioner Rehan Gul Khattak confirmed the attack on Government Girls Middle School Hafizabad in Hassu Khel village on Sunday night. He stated that the school building sustained damage, but there were no casualties.

District Police Officer Saleem Riaz reported that two girls’ schools were targeted and destroyed by explosives on Sunday night. However, no casualties were reported.

The affected schools, located in Musakki and Hassu Khel villages of Mir Ali sub-division, are now the center of investigations under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

This incident follows the recent killings of at least eight individuals, including five teachers, in separate shootings in Upper Kurram Tehsil earlier this month.
