The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has expressed strong opposition to granting e-voting rights to expatriates, citing concerns over potential hacking risks. During a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, ECP officials highlighted that the majority of political parties oppose e-voting, especially for general elections.

They also pointed out that no other country, except Austria, currently allows internet voting. The ECP emphasized the risk of foreign hackers disrupting the system and recommended that e-voting should not be used in the upcoming elections.
