Senator Ali Zafar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) recently disclosed that the party’s founder, Imran Khan, authorized the government’s negotiation team to receive PTI’s demands in writing, without requiring a face-to-face meeting. Zafar, also PTI’s parliamentary leader in the Senate, clarified that the demands were focused on individuals who have been imprisoned without trial or are facing prolonged detention, not on Khan’s own release.
“Imran Khan is not seeking his own release,” Zafar stated. “He is confident that he will win all of his cases in court, as the charges against him are baseless.” Zafar emphasized that Khan had already seen some of his cases dismissed and was not requesting any personal concessions.

Regarding the access to Khan, Zafar explained that while the party’s lawyers were allowed to meet with him, PTI’s political leaders were being denied direct access. “We were prepared to discuss the written draft, but the government initially insisted that the demands be submitted in writing,” he added.
Zafar concluded that the issue had been resolved with Khan agreeing to let the demands be submitted without the need for a personal meeting.
