Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Denies Attending “Anti-China” Event During U.S. Visit

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed recent reports claiming he participated in an “anti-China” event during his visit to the United States, calling the allegations “propaganda.” This response followed claims on social media and in both local and Indian media that he had attended a gathering organized by a lobbying group opposing China’s Communist Party.

Naqvi, speaking to the press in Houston, firmly denied the accusations, stating, “I did not attend, nor did I go to any anti-Chinese state event.” He acknowledged attending an event hosted by Gunster Strategies Worldwide, a U.S.-based public relations firm, but emphasized that any association with an “anti-China” agenda was incorrect. He dismissed the claims as baseless, adding, “They can do as much propaganda as they want, it doesn’t matter.”

During his U.S. visit, Naqvi held a series of important meetings, including with U.S. lawmakers. He expressed concern about efforts by some in the U.S. to incite opposition against Pakistan’s government. “A lot of dirt was being spread about Pakistan, and clearing that up was necessary,” he said. Naqvi warned that U.S. lawmakers were being misled about Pakistan and cautioned that such tactics could harm bilateral relations.

Naqvi also discussed rising terrorism in Pakistan, underscoring that one of his main goals during the visit was to strengthen coordination with U.S. officials in combating terrorism. He reiterated that any attacks against the state would be met with severe measures, framing the fight against terrorism as a shared global concern.

While in the U.S., Naqvi participated in multiple engagements aimed at reinforcing the relationship between Pakistan and the U.S. He attended a special dinner at Lincoln Liberty Hall in Washington, where he met with U.S. senators and members of Congress. Naqvi also held meetings with Congress members, including Thomas Suozzi, Jack Bergman, Joe Wilson, and Rob Bresnahan, discussing regional peace, Afghanistan’s situation, and strengthening Pakistan-U.S. ties.

Naqvi’s visit comes at a time when Pakistan seeks to navigate its complex and evolving relationship with the U.S., balancing shared security interests with differing strategic priorities.
