Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Advisor Raises Concerns Over Federal Funding Allocation

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Finance Advisor, Muzammil Aslam, has expressed dissatisfaction with the federal government’s allocation of funds to the province. He mentioned that the province was promised Rs 400 billion but only received 70 billion rupees, including the AIP and the budget. He questioned the disbursement of this amount and criticized the lack of an increase in the budget for tribal districts compared to the budget increase for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Aslam stressed the need for funds proportional to salary increases and emphasized the challenges KP would face in fulfilling commitments to the IMF without adequate funding.

Additionally, he highlighted delays in receiving electricity profits and royalty payments from the federal government. Aslam also called for a new NFC award and accused the federal government of obstructing the process. In response, the federal government mentioned ongoing discussions with the IMF and said the matter would be reviewed next year.
