Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across a wide range of areas, including trade, investment, and aviation.
This renewed pledge came during a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Monday between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to Radio Pakistan.
Sheikh Abdullah arrived in Pakistan on Sunday for a two-day official visit, during which he is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The visit aims to deepen bilateral engagement and includes talks on regional and global developments.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah expressed satisfaction with the growing pace of cooperation between the two countries. “Pakistan is close to our hearts,” he said, emphasizing that both governments and their people share a strong desire to strengthen ties.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar echoed this sentiment, highlighting the deep-rooted and brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE. “We are working together to advance the welfare of our two nations,” he said.
Key Agreements Signed
The two leaders signed two important Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs):
- Cultural Cooperation – Enhancing collaboration in arts, heritage, and cultural exchanges.
- Consular Affairs Committee – Establishing a joint committee to improve consular services and coordination.
In addition, they witnessed the signing of another MOU between the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry to set up a UAE-Pakistan Joint Business Council. This council is expected to play a major role in boosting bilateral trade and investment.
The visit underscores the growing strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared vision for economic growth and regional cooperation.
