Arshad Nadeem, the triumphant Olympic gold medalist from the Paris Games, was accorded a warm welcome upon his return to Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in the early hours of Sunday. A sea of supporters, hailing from his hometown of Mian Channu, Chak 101, and beyond, gathered to express their adoration for the champion.

In attendance were Nadeem’s parents and distinguished government officials, such as Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Shiza Fatima, Faisal Khokhar, and Rana Mashhood, who eagerly awaited the 27-year-old national hero’s arrival.

Amidst a grand reception complete with a Punjab Police band, Nadeem enjoyed a historic VVIP protocol orchestrated by Lahore Police. A contingent of over 150 officers and personnel ensured the athlete’s security, with an elite convoy accompanying him every step of the way. The spectacle of Nadeem’s plane being welcomed with a water cannon salute added to the fervor of the occasion.

Accompanied by his coach Salman Butt and Major General (Retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Vice President of Asian Athletics and Chairman of South Asian Athletics, Nadeem found himself under the meticulous care of the Lahore Traffic Police, led by SP Munir Hashmi. This ensured smooth operations on roads leading to the airport, providing a sense of reassurance and security to all involved.

This forthcoming special ceremony will pay tribute to Nadeem’s exceptional contributions to sports, making the nation proud and appreciative of his achievements.

Nadeem has etched his name in the annals of history by securing Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in athletics, triumphing in the men’s javelin throw with a record-breaking 92.97-meter effort. His feat, notably prevailing over defending champion Neeraj Chopra of India, has not only made the nation proud but also sparked a wave of inspiration across the country.
