The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning of potential flash floods in mountainous streams and urban flooding in multiple areas across the country. This announcement comes as the department reports possible flash flooding in streams located in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Dir, Swat, Kashmir, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Additionally, urban areas such as Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Peshawar are at risk of flooding.
The PMD also emphasized the threat of landslides in the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Murree, Galyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B). Furthermore, rainfall is anticipated across K-P, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, and Kashmir, with G-B and southern Punjab likely to experience strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain.
In response to these warnings, authorities have urged residents in the affected regions to take necessary precautions and stay vigilant against potential flooding and landslides. It is advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and adhere to safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of individuals and communities in these areas.
