After Pakistan’s exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, Head Coach Gary Kirsten delivered a clear message to the team, emphasizing that only players who prioritize unity, focus on fitness, and enhance their skill set will secure a spot in the team’s future.

In a direct conversation with the Pakistan team post their elimination from the tournament, Kirsten has voiced his concerns. He has specifically highlighted the players’ fitness levels, which he deemed as subpar, and the team’s skill level, which he found to be significantly lower compared to other international teams. Kirsten also pointed out the lack of clarity in shot selection, despite the team’s extensive cricket exposure.

Having observed a distinct lack of unity within the team since taking on the role, Kirsten expressed his disappointment with the lack of mutual support among players, emphasizing that he has not encountered a similar situation despite working with numerous teams in the past.

Moreover, Kirsten has reiterated his expectations from the players. He has made it crystal clear that only those who show improvement in these key areas will secure a place in the team, while others will be excluded from future selections. This underscores the coach’s stance and the team’s future prospects.

Despite the disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, Pakistan managed to secure a victory in their final match against Ireland, winning by three wickets at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. However, unexpected defeats to the USA and India led to their early exit from the tournament, preventing them from advancing to the Super 8 stage. The victory against Ireland allowed Pakistan to finish third in Group A, with two wins from four games.
