PCB ponders appointing Shahid Afridi as ‘chief selector until the 2023 World Cup’

As said by reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to appoint former captain Shahid Afridi as head selector till the 2023 World Cup in India.

The all-rounder is now serving as the temporary chair of the Men’s National Selection Committee for the next home series against New Zealand, after being selected to the position by the PCB Management Committee, which is led by Najam Sethi.

“I am proud to have been awarded this job by the PCB Management Committee and will leave no stone unturned in performing this obligation to the best of my ability,” Afridi said after being named.

“We need to go back to winning, and I have no doubt that we will accomplish it via meritocratic and smart selection judgements.”
