DERA GHAZI KHAN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged major development projects for South Punjab, announcing the construction of a cancer hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan and a university in Rajanpur. Speaking at a rally in DG Khan, he assured the region that it would never be left behind in the country’s progress.
“The era of progress and prosperity has begun,” the PM stated, emphasizing the creation of job opportunities for the youth. He highlighted previous initiatives such as Daanish Schools, free medicine, laptops, and conditional cash transfer programs aimed at uplifting the region’s children.
Shehbaz Sharif also reaffirmed his commitment to South Punjab’s development, recalling that he and Nawaz Sharif had consistently allocated a higher quota for the region in employment and education programs. “This was your right, and we will continue working for it,” he assured.
Expressing gratitude for the public’s unwavering support, the PM vowed to serve South Punjab tirelessly. He acknowledged the challenges the region faced, particularly during floods, and stressed that his government had worked relentlessly to aid those affected.
On the economic front, Shehbaz highlighted that under PML-N’s leadership, inflation had been brought down from over 40% to below 2.4%, and interest rates had been reduced to 12%, benefiting investors, businesses, and farmers.
He also dismissed reliance on foreign loans, asserting that Pakistan’s economic transformation must come from self-sustaining policies. “I don’t believe in hollow slogans. We will ensure the prosperity of backward areas through real action,” he declared.
The development of South Punjab remains a key political issue, with opposition parties, including the PTI, pressing for the creation of a separate South Punjab province.
