Political Leaders Unite to Support China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at Pakistan-China Institute Meeting

The Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) recently hosted a significant event under its ‘Friends of Silk Road’ series, bringing together leaders from eight political parties to express strong support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The event saw representatives from both government and opposition parties discussing CPEC and the outcomes of the recent Third Plenary Session of the Communist Party of China (CPC), with a focus on China’s global influence and its implications for Pakistan.

During the event, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of PCI, emphasized the transformative role of the CPC in China’s progress, highlighting its remarkable growth since 1979. Additionally, Senator Sherry Rehman commended China’s Global Security Initiative for promoting peace and stability, while Saadia Khaqan Abbasi praised China’s advancements in technology and human development.

Furthermore, Senator Shibli Faraz emphasized the significance of CPEC as a beacon of hope and a symbol of the strong bilateral relationship between Pakistan and China, while Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri highlighted the enduring strength of Pakistan-China ties.

Other speakers also voiced their perspectives, emphasizing the importance of learning from China’s development-focused policies and its impact on global affairs, while also calling for stronger academic ties and reaffirming support for CPEC.

The event concluded with a joint statement reaffirming the commitment of Pakistan’s political parties to deepen ties with China and support CPEC, viewed as crucial for Pakistan’s future. The gathering was attended by over 200 participants from various sectors, underlining the broad interest and support for the discussed topics.
