Political Tensions Rise as FIA Seeks Remand for PTI Information Secretary

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has requested a 10-day physical remand for Raoof Hasan, the Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Islamabad Police arrested Hasan during a raid at the PTI Secretariat, where a computer and other items were confiscated.

The raid has sparked controversy, with PTI claiming that the seized items included critical affidavits from MNAs and MPAs that play a significant role in verifying party affiliations. The party has accused law enforcement of overstepping and potentially impacting the composition of the National Assembly.

According to sources, authorities have alleged that the digital media cell at PTI’s office was involved in disseminating anti-Pakistan propaganda in collaboration with foreign agencies. PTI has vehemently denied these allegations, while the FIA argues that a remand is necessary to recover devices used for social media accounts, which are crucial for further investigation.

The situation has heightened political tensions, with the PTI condemning the raid as an attempt to undermine the party. As the case unfolds, it raises concerns about the intersection of law enforcement and political affiliations in Pakistan.
