“Prime Minister Hasina’s Unaired Speech Accuses US of Plotting Regime Change and Asserts Commitment to Bangladesh’s Sovereignty”

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had intended to address the nation before her resignation and departure from Dhaka due to escalating protests. Her speech, which was never delivered, revealed her accusations against the US for orchestrating a regime change in the country. In the undelivered address, she expressed her refusal to surrender the sovereignty of Saint Martin Island and reject American influence over the Bay of Bengal, a stance that underscored the gravity of the situation. Hasina also emphasized her concern for the well-being of the people and assured her party members of her eventual return and the resilience of the Awami League.

The speech also clarified her remarks about the protesting students and addressed the strained relations between Bangladesh and the US during her tenure. Following her departure, an interim government under Muhammad Yunus has assumed control, with a call for students to protect minority communities in the midst of ongoing protests and resignations of top officials.
