Previously, PTI’s parliamentary faction had expressed dissent over Imran Khan’s decision to accept Omar Ayub’s resignation as secretary general. There was a subsequent call for a reversal of this decision, advocating for Ayub’s reinstatement to the post. This development emerged within 24 hours of PTI’s founder endorsing Ayub’s decision to step down from his party position, a move made as part of his focus on parliamentary affairs while serving as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.

These events led to internal confusion within PTI, compounded by reports of discord within the party. While PTI announced plans to hold rallies advocating for the release of their leader, the party’s secretary general opted to resign from his pivotal position to concentrate on parliamentary responsibilities.
