Aliya Hamza, a prominent figure within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was released from Gujranwala Jail on Wednesday after her release orders were submitted earlier in the day. She left the jail and departed in a family vehicle, confirming her release via PTI’s official X account.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued a protective order for Aliya Hamza, preventing law enforcement agencies from arresting her in any new cases without the court’s permission until August 29. This ruling, made by LHC’s Justice Ali Baqar Najafi during a petition hearing filed by Hamza Jameel, Aliya’s husband, sought protective bail to prevent further arrests in cases of which she was unaware.

Justice Najafi declared, “No agency will arrest Aliya Hamza without the permission of the LHC.” The court also requested a report from the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Awan by the next hearing date, detailing any First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against Aliya. This measure is taken to ensure transparency and accountability in the legal process, as it allows the court to consider all relevant information before making a decision.
