PTI Leader Sher Afzal Marwat Faces Controversy Amid Expulsion Notification

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in a state of confusion after a notification circulated on social media announcing the expulsion of prominent party leader Sher Afzal Marwat for alleged gross violations and breaches of discipline.

The notification suggests that Marwat’s basic party membership has been revoked and advises him to step down from the National Assembly. Senior PTI leader Advocate Shoaib Shaheen has reportedly supported Marwat’s expulsion, citing these alleged violations.

However, insiders of other parties dismissed the notification as “fake,” asserting that valued individuals like Marwat, believed to be assets by PTI founder Imran Khan, could not be expelled so abruptly.

The letter, supposedly issued by PTI’s Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, states that “The committee has concluded that Sher Afzal Marwat shows no regard for the rules and discipline of the party, and his actions have adversely affected the party’s image and narrative.” It further claims that, based on these findings, the committee recommended terminating Marwat’s membership, a decision supposedly approved by Imran Khan.

Nevertheless, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has publicly refuted the legitimacy of the expulsion notification, describing it as fraudulent. He stated, “If such a decision were made, I would certainly be aware, as I am the party chairman.”

Sher Afzal Marwat has also responded to the allegations on social media, expressing respect for the party’s decision while asserting his allegiance to Imran Khan. Marwat expressed a commitment to resolving misunderstandings and expressed a desire to meet with Imran Khan to clarify his position.
