Saudi Arabia has strongly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments about displacing Palestinians from their land, according to a statement from the country’s foreign ministry on Sunday. The remarks were made in the context of an interview where Netanyahu seemed to make a lighthearted comment regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state on Saudi territory. Netanyahu initially misspoke during the interview, referring to a “Saudi state” instead of a “Palestinian state” before correcting himself.
While the Saudi statement addressed Netanyahu’s comments, it did not directly refer to the suggestion of establishing a Palestinian state on Saudi land. The Saudi government made it clear that such ideas were categorically rejected.
In a separate development, Hamas accused Israel of breaching a ceasefire agreement and delaying the entry of humanitarian aid under a truce deal from January 19. The delay in supplies, including food and shelter materials for displaced Palestinians, was described by Hamas as a manipulation of relief efforts.
