In Sudan, the ongoing clashes between the Sudanese army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have resulted in a catastrophic toll on civilians, with more than 400 fatalities and over 3,500 injured, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Speaking at a press conference in Geneva, WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris announced that “as far as we know, 413 people have lost their lives, and 3,551 have been wounded.”

Of the casualties, at least nine children were among the deceased and over 50 children sustained injuries, according to UNICEF.

Sudan’s health ministry revealed that the fighting had disrupted 20 medical facilities and jeopardized an additional 12, impacting not just those injured during the conflict but also those who required medical attention beforehand.

UNICEF spokesperson James Elder warned that “the children in the country are bearing the brunt of this conflict.”
